Review: The Nail Biting Tale of Iron Flame- A Must Read for my Fantasy Lovers!

“My house. My chair. My woman.”

Anyone else loose it after reading that quote? I literally fell off my chair when that happened. HAHA! Okay, so this is my genuine review of Iron Flame. Disclaimer, this was my re-read. I already have my spoiler free review on good reads if you want to read that and avoid the definite spoilers on this one. I’ll try to keep this one short, so we aren’t reading for days.

This re-read was finished FOUR DAYS before the midnight release, I’m attending. Yes, I am going to a midnight release and have been counting down to the second I’m so excited. I even planned so far ahead I made sure to take a personal day Tuesday so I can sleep in and read! Not sure how much heart break I’ll be able to take though. Let’s be real, we know it’s coming. Ok, now let’s jump in!

The first half of the book is the aftermath of war games. Violet wakes up in Aretia, a place that was supposedly burned down after Xaden’s dad and the rebellion. Clearly not though. Not to mention, Brennan is alive!

Everyone who survived the venin attack in Athebyne decides they need to go back to Basgiath. When they get there, I died laughing at Xaden’s dramatic entrance when their names are being called out on the death roll. Literally.

For the sake of keeping this short, can we talk about the hate for Varrish? Oh, he’s such a prick. I wanted to throttle the man. But at least he got what he deserved after torturing Violet. Also, Xaden hunted down Wyvern dropping them on their borders? He was BUSY!

During her rescue, Violet begs Xaden to give the cadets a choice. And that’s how Aretia ended up with half of Basgiath’s cadets completely unprepared. Oops, but it was done out of her morals. At least we know Violet does care enough to not give people the choice to fight and survive.

Mira finding out Brennan is alive was the most Mira-expected reaction out of her. To be fair, he deserved it. At this point, Violet still has trust issues with Xaden but they’re trying to work it out. He’s also been writing her letters about himself which I think is so cute.

Miss Violet takes it upon herself to try and bargain for the luminary they so desperately need and gets to meet the infamous Catriona. TBH, did NOT like her at first for obvious reasons. But she grew on me. After that very eventful visit, they end up bringing the gryphon fliers to Aretia! As if they didn’t have enough people to worry about. But hey, it worked out. And I was a big fan of the combined war college. If you ask me, I feel like that should be the new normal. That and also figuring out a way to raise the wards but still allowing fliers to wield magic.

The ending is what always gets me. Xaden turning for love, just like the sage in their dreams. We found out he was having the SAME dream as Violet, so something tells me that the Sage had planned for one of the 2 to turn venin to save the other. My heart broke reading that. Even the second time I read it I teared up. But at least we have the next book coming, right?

Alright. That’s the end. It felt like a blurb, but I wanted to get this out and published before the release. Feel free to contact me for more book conversations! And if you’re in the NYC area, maybe we can meet over a cup of coffee or tea!

Definitely not for young audiences. Parents: I won't tell you what to let your kids read or not read, but I can recommend that they maybe not read this until they've at least reach high school. Even then, some might still feel its intended for an older audience than that.

Anyways, HAPPY READING!

Stay tuned for my next review: Onyx Storm (book 3 of the Empyrean Series) Hoping to have it out soon! Sorry for the time between, a full time job while blogging isn't always the easiest.
